A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT

  • In 2010, a few small groups came together with a desire to come alongside parents in the community to set their children up for success in the coming school year. That first year they gave away backpacks with supplies and provided opportunities to find some new to them clothes that had been generously donated.

  • Throughout the years the event has grown, and what has been offered has changed in response to the needs that we heard from kids, parents, and schools. What hasn’t changed is the one heart to serve the children and their families in our community with no strings attached.

  • Whether it is a new pair of shoes, or a new haircut, or whatever future options may be available, we have heard stories of how this event has gone a long way in helping children experience a healthy start to their school year. Over the years, we’ve offered families a chance to celebrate the end of summer with food, fun, and resources that help instill joy and confidence for the families who otherwise may not be able to provide for their school-aged kids.

  • We know we aren’t the answer, but by partnering with companies, organizations, and individual people in the community, together we can help set these school-aged kids up for success. Whether you are an individual who wants to get involved, a family who wants to serve together, or a business, church, or organization who wants to support on many different levels, we are always looking for more people who have the same heart- who will share ONE HEART- for kids who may have needs that need to be met.
